  A general overview of listening and its function in effective communication encounters. This course covers the following content areas: need for listening, listening as a component in a transitive communication process, process of listening, types of listening (discriminative, comprehensive, therapeutic, critical, appreciative), and listening in various communication settings (as audience, in interpersonal relationships and in group decision making).
